Adult Drivers Policy
Students must be 18 years of age by the first classroom session. a One-hour behind-the-wheel lesson will have 50- minutes of a drive time that includes lesson introduction and feedback after the drive. A One-hour and half behind-the-wheel lesson will have 80- minutes of driving time that includes lesson introduction and feedback after the drive.
- Attendance – If a student misses a class session due to illness and/or family emergency, all class hours must be made up and a student may reschedule his/her class but no refund of tuition.
- Expulsion – If a student is removed from any class session for behavior problems, cheating, drug and/or alcohol use, the student will be immediately dropped with no tuition refund and will not be allowed to enroll in public Driving school.
- Withdrawals – There are no tuition refunds if you withdraw from the class within 48 hours before the lesson or class session starts.
- Class Refunds: You may request a 75% refund up to 7 days before the BTW lesson and/or classroom lessons start date. There is a $25 processing fee that will be assessed for each behind-the-wheel lesson/class refund requested. Please allow up to 2-3 weeks for processing. In the final 7 days before the class start date, you may receive a 50% of paid amount as a refund. Refund requests made after the class has started are not eligible for a refund but he/she can reschedule for his/her convenient time.
- Canceled Class: Public Driving School has the right to cancel a drive or cancel a class when SDA is not capable of delivering the lessons for any reason. If a class is canceled, you will receive a full refund. When we cancel a drive, we will reschedule it for you at the earliest possible available time. When we have to refund: If you paid by credit card, your refund will be credited to that account number. If you paid by cash or check, your refund check will come to you in the mail in 2-3 weeks from public driving School.
- Canceling or scheduling a drive: To reschedule or cancel lessons, students must contact our office or log in to public driving School website at least 2 business days before the scheduled lesson. Weekends and holidays are not considered business days. If a student cancels a lesson within the required time for notice of cancellation, does not bring a valid learner’s permit or license to a lesson, or fails to show up for a lesson, they will be charged as if he were present at the lesson.
- An educational clock hour is defined as 50-55 minutes of Drive time with a 5–10-minute break for the instructor to get prepared for the next student driver.
- Students will be taught defensive driving skills, Rules Of The Road, and Safe Driving procedures. They will be prepared for DOL knowledge and driving Skill Tests as well.
- Payment – Course fees are expected to be paid in full at the time of registration.
- Behavior – Electronic media is not allowed in the classroom. Cell phones must be turned off during all class sessions and BTW drives. Students are responsible for any damage to supplies, materials, and/or equipment caused by misuse, abuse, and/or careless behavior. Vandalism is grounds for dismissal without refund. ?
- Lerner’s permit must be obtained before signing up for any BTW lessons. Permits must be on your person to drive showing up without a permit is the same as simply doing NO-SHOW
- If you are more than 15 minutes late for a scheduled BTW drive lesson, you will be charged a NO-SHOW fee. However, with that Grace period,” the instructor may be up to 15 minutes late with a previous student. You must remain at the pickup location for 15 minutes for adjusted scheduling.
- Students appearing drunk and/or under the influence will be dropped from the class without a tuition refund.
- DOL Skill Test will not be part of any behind-the-wheel lesson.
- . There will be no refund on unused lessons and after 3 months unused lessons will be considered expired or lost.
- Current COVID-19 restrictions: Effective 3/12/22 masks are no longer required for drives/skills tests. You need to be free from symptoms of illness. All driving lessons will be conducted with our vehicles. If you have tested positive for COVID-19 you must notify us before your scheduled driving test or lesson if you desire an exception to our late cancellation policy (must provide proof of positive test results from a lab that includes the student’s name and date of the test; at-home tests NOT allowed). If you notify us after your scheduled service/lesson start time you will lose the lesson.
- Public Driving School reserves the right to change, update or modify its policy at any time without prior notice to anyone. In the event that any changes are made, the revised policy will be posted on this website immediately.
